NASOC East-Coast Meet

Two months away and we are getting started with preparations for Stowe '07. We hope to capitalize on the success of last years show and hopefully catch the eyes of more than a few spectators. The Singer Garage will be retired, however something new will take its place. Will it be enough to garner another Club Participation award? That would be nice, however the real prize is in spreading news on the Singer marque and having people appreciate our little cars with big hearts. You can contact us for more information, or just to let us know if you will be attending.

Mad Dogs and Englishmen

The Mid-America Singer Meet, July 8, 2007, is getting close. All members are encouraged to attend. The way so many members are planning to attend and so many others are seriously thinking about attending, this meet may have the largest member turnout in the Club’s history. Singer has been designated the “Jewel Marque” at the Mad Dogs and Englishmen British car show where we will meet. There will be 350-400 British cars attending. The show is held on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum. The Museum’s grounds are outstanding, coming close to the ambiance of “Pebble Beach” in California. Inside the museum are 200 fully restored classic cars, plus one building housing American Muscle cars. This show is so much nicer than any other British car show that I have ever attended that it is on a par with a “died and gone to Heaven” show. Wives love this show – paved streets, no mud, inside flush toilets, and a restored diner with great frozen custard. I will have a motor home at the show with cold drinks inside for any members who desire some R&R.

You can look at the Gilmore Car Museum’s web page at:

If you will be showing your car, you can print a form to pre-register from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen organizer’s web page. Singers in any condition are welcome to be shown. We do not recommend their rally, but instead come to my home where the other Singer people will be. You only need to pay the $20 registration fee to show your car.

You can also register a Singer the day of the show, but if you don’t pre-register the club might not have enough room for you in the official Singer area and you might wind up with lesser cars, like Rolls.

I live 2 hours from the show mostly by expressway, and am inviting all NASOC members to come to my home on 5 acres on Saturday, July 7th. Pick-up campers, etc. are OK to park here. There is so much to see during the show, that there is little time to just visit with members. Our planned Saturday get-together will allow us to visit, tinker on Singers, resolve “how to” questions, have meals together, discuss our club, and most importantly get to know each other. So far (May 31) 8 people have committed to Saturday, 3 others plan to attend if business allows, and several others are seriously talking about coming. Other members from the West and Canada will be coming to the show, but probably cannot make it here Saturday. These are all distant folks, so local folks will be on top of that. We will caravan from my home to the show on Sunday. Bring lawn chairs if practical. Please contact me at iswc2@yahoo.com if you want to join us Saturday or at the show.

There are many hotels near my home at exit 177 on I94 (State Rd., Ann Arbor – first exit west of US23). This is a nice area with many restaurants and a large mall. My home is only 10 minutes away.

Three of these hotels are:

Motel 6, $49.99 for one person, $54.99 for two people, no trailers: 734-665-9900

Looks old, 2 streets South of the exit to the right.

Red Roof, $49.99 for one bed, $59.99 - $64.99 for two beds, trailers OK: 734-665-3500

Comfort Inn & Suites, $89 smoking, $129 non-smoking suite, trailers OK: 734-761-8834

Both of these appear redone, 1 street North of the exit to the right
